The Ethereal 70's

The few set of Fall and Spring seasons, designers have given us a taste of the “love-child” look from flowing skirts, peasant bloused lace, and even the notorious across-the-head headbands (which I am sporting as I write this). As 2011 drew closer and Spring trends were shown, a more 70’s vibe was introduced. And like myself, many of you have probably caught on to the fact that these two trends go hand-in-hand with one another.

Marc Jacobs did phenomenal work for his Spring 2011 collection. It was full of high-waisted bell bottoms and flower power hues.

You would think a petite person like me (5’2” if you want to get technical) wouldn’t be fond of this trend- being enveloped in excess, flowing fabric. But with a little tweaking, one can go from a bag lady look-a-like to a Free People model. Keep in mind proportions. If anything is dragging, take it off. Play with accessories like floppy hats, feathered earrings, or a bright-colored satchel.

The New Red

yesterday was Thursday. you know what that means...StyleBy.Me

Over Thanksgiving Break I purchased the most beautiful Geren Ford dress that is this amazing orangey-red. When buying it, I was told that it would be the “new color for spring”. Now, I see the color popping up everywhere and I am glad I made that purchase.

free to be

I get home today and find something ultra pleasant in my mailbox: the February Free People catalog. Free People comes out with a catalog each month and each month I get just as excited as the month before. The long skirts and hair give off a hippie vibe that has an introverted sex appeal that I love. My favorite Free People location is the one on Spring Street in New York City. They displayed vintage bikes on the walls that were being wrapped in colorful yarn this past summer.
